     Ao ser retirada de seu ecossistema nativo e introduzida em um novo ecossistema uma espécie passa por diversos filtros ambientais. Durante esse processo a espécie, agora não-nativa, perde grande parte de seus inimigos naturais, os quais limitavam sua densidade populacional no ambiente nativo, o que acabaria por favorecer tal espécie, aumentando as chances dela se tornar invasora.
